An Ode to My Boy

As my wonderful son reaches the three-month-mark of living on his own in his new apartment and working as a professional accountant, I wanted to take a moment to scan this blog that started when he was six and share some of the precious moments.

At six, I learned how to play movie-freeze game, create social stories, and write a body-language dictionary. He taught me how to kiss someone when they're at the stove. 

At seven, his idiom dictionary, autobiographical memory boards, and hide-and-seek door hangers were growing as were my skills perfecting a humor "tool box".

At eight, the energy skyrocketed as we got through a first pass of "Mommy School" through the summer and he helped me write with more detail.

At nine, we moved to the Santa Cruz mountains and his cute antics intensified!

At ten, he started winning chess competitions and did his first of nearly a dozen functional MRIs to support Stanford research (he used all the money for Legos and they loved that he'd lay still for the scans because he was making a fair trade).

At eleven, Cameron flew and scuba dove and practiced his new skill of riding a bike.

At twelve, Cameron graduated elementary school and became my expert helper naming trees along our mountain road.

At thirteen, we jumped into homeschooling with the support of an online charter school.

At fourteen, Cameron's martial arts skills were growing and we were well-settled in the mountains.

At fifteen, Cameron was well into dual enrollment in college courses from our new home in Colorado...so much growth!

At sixteen, he was becoming even more eloquent in college.

At seventeen, he became both a high school and college graduate.

At eighteen, he started at UCCS!

At nineteen, we went to Britain as a family.

At twenty, Cameron started his senior year and we moved to an apartment.

At twenty one, he was working so hard to get a job and taking a few classes during the search.

And here we are at twenty two, my boy is such an amazing human growing his skills at adulting. I feel such gratitude for the journey so far of being his mom.💖
